The two quakes on the east coast in the last ten years had quite a reach. According to the United States Geological Survey, earthquakes east of the Rocky Mountains can cause noticeable ground shaking at much farther distances than comparably-sized earthquakes in the West.
While there is no ability to predict that a major earthquake will strike, the experts warn us that a major earthquake can happen at any time.
Most people may not be sure if they are insured in the event of an earthquake. Homeowner policies rarely have earthquake insurance. In the rare case that it is included, you likely will be paying more and it will likely have lower limits than the rest of the policy.
